Project 365: Day 37

The Dance

There is something so comforting about the flames from a candle. The mood it creates. Peaceful.

I tried this shot at various shutter speed settings until I achieved the look I liked. I think it worked out well at 1/2 sec because it gave the flames a little time to change position.

  • Your candle flames are stunning! I think maybe I can set shutter speeds manually on my Canon PowerShot S2IS, but I've never tried. I usually use "auto", sometimes I select scenes, and if I'm at an event where people are moving I can select a rapid sequence. I really need to periodically pick a section of my user's manual and experiment with the camera capability that it teaches me!
  • Thank you Donna. I agree, the best way to learn your camera is to grab your camera and the manual and just start taking pictures.
